Some rules just beg to be broken.
Danika Steffen can take care of herself. Watching her mother slowly succumb to muscular dystrophy convinced Danika that total independence is the only way to go. Anything that needs fixing, she’s got the tools. So what if she’s never had an orgasm. No one really needs one, right?
Sam Bradford is good at two things: his job as a paramedic, and seducing women. Being dependable? Not so much. Losing his father at age fifteen tore a permanent hole in his life, and now he’s determined never to let anyone need him that much. Enjoying women, though, is definitely on the menu. As long as they understand his unbreakable rule: one night only. Until a date with Danika Steffen ends not in her bed, but with a trip to the ER.
Danika may have a broken wrist, but Sam’s the one suffering…an intense case of guilt. And instead of doing things to her, he only wants to do things for her. Which would drive her crazy if not for the sneaking suspicion that Sam needs a little TLC too. And damned if she doesn’t want to be the one to give it…
Orgasm, smorgazam – who needs one? So says the woman who has never been shattered that way. Danika doesn’t want a man in her life so one night stand Sam is perfect for her. He’ll scratch the itch and move on.
So Danika is a kick ass heroine! I mean kick ass. She can do what needs to be done and watching her learn to accept Sam’s help is wonderful. And watching Sam trying to do things for Danika, try to be the man is just damn sweet.
And the sexual tension of the almost but not quite sex. Sizzle! And when the actual sex happens. Worth the wait! Totally worth the wait.
Like Erin Nicholas‘ previous book there is lots going on here. This man and this woman have valid reasons for feeling the way they do. Watching these two very strong people learn to need and depend on each other – beautiful.
While this book can be read alone it would be best to read “Just Right” first – Sam is Bradford #2 and one of the things I love about series is that characters I fell in love with in prior books come back for some more fun.
I am so happy I found Erin Nicholas. I’m just sorry I devoured her back list so quickly. *sigh* Now I have to wait for Spring of 2011 – 2011 people! – for her next book “Anything You Want“.
